Operations Research Scientist

Athens, GreeceFull-time

Apply advanced optimization and OR techniques to routing, scheduling, and logistics problems. Collaborate with MIT research partners.

About the role

You will work on some of the most computationally demanding problems in our portfolio: nurse staffing, OR scheduling, and large-scale route optimization. You will translate academic research into working systems and collaborate directly with MIT partners who are leaders in the field.

What you will do

  • Formulate and solve large-scale optimization problems in routing, staffing, and scheduling
  • Implement and tune solvers (exact, heuristic, and hybrid approaches)
  • Translate research results into production-ready algorithms
  • Collaborate with MIT Sloan researchers on joint research initiatives
  • Validate and benchmark solution quality against industry baselines

What we are looking for

  • Graduate degree (MSc or PhD) in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or related field
  • Strong foundation in mathematical optimization: LP, MIP, constraint programming, or stochastic methods
  • Programming proficiency in Python; experience with solvers like Gurobi, CPLEX, or OR-Tools
  • Ability to read and contribute to academic research
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem decomposition skills

Nice to have

  • Experience with vehicle routing or workforce scheduling problems
  • Published research in optimization or operations research
  • Familiarity with simulation-based optimization
