Backend Software Engineer

About the role

You will design and build the server-side infrastructure that powers Veltiston's AI products. This includes clean REST and GraphQL APIs, robust database schemas, and reliable integrations between ML services and client-facing applications. You will work closely with ML engineers and frontend developers.

What you will do

• Design and implement REST and GraphQL APIs consumed by web and mobile clients
• Build database schemas and query layers optimized for analytical and transactional workloads
• Integrate ML inference services into product backends
• Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting for production services
• Participate in code review and architecture discussions

What we are looking for

• Strong experience with Python backend frameworks (FastAPI, Django, or Flask)
• Solid SQL skills and experience with PostgreSQL or similar databases
• Experience deploying and managing services on cloud platforms
• Understanding of REST API design principles
• Comfortable with asynchronous programming and task queues

Nice to have

• Experience with GraphQL
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of data streaming systems (Kafka, Pulsar)
